Theatrelab’s Retreat Theatre works with special children and aims at developing a Theatrebased pedagogy for their development. Theatre Therapy greatly helps the special children to become more aware of their bodies and minds, be creative and maximize self-help, motor, cognitive, language, academic and social skills. This, in turn, leads to a high degree of Empowerment of the special children resulting in the overall development of their personality.

Theatrelab’s work with the Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children, Chennai, has proved the above said hypotheses and the immediate need to vision out and develop an effective and holistic Process ( a pedagogy) that address the needs of the Teachers, Parents and the special Children using Theatre and the different aspects of Theatre as the medium
